Online fundraising is fun, effective and easy, and it helps Cancer Council minimise administration costs. In this section you can discover how to make the most of online fundraising page and get the best possible results.
Maximise your online fundraising:
Five steps for online success
Make the most of online fundraising by following these five simple steps:
-
GET SET UP: Register now! Once you’re registered you can create your online fundraising page straight away. Set a fundraising goal and make sure everyone knows what it is. Why not kick-start your fundraising by making your own donation? You can also personalise your page with photos, videos and messages to your event supporters.
-
LET EVERYONE KNOW: Login to your page at any time to send an email to all your friends and family to invite them and suggest they donate prior to your Girls’ Night In. (This helps reduce our admin costs and is greatly appreciated!). You can also share a link to your personal fundraising page on Twitter or Facebook. This year we’ll be launching a Facebook app which will let your guests to donate through Facebook. Find out more about our exciting new Facebook app.
-
KEEP UP THE REMINDERS: As your Girls’ Night In approaches, remind your guests that your page exists and how they can donate. Use social media to drive as many hits to your page as you can!
-
SAY THANKS: Thanking people involved makes it all worthwhile!
-
BANK WHAT YOU’VE RAISED: Once you’ve finished fundraising, don’t forget to bank the money! To do so, simply login to your personal fundraising page and go to the ‘fundraise and organise’ tab or deposit the funds at your local bank using your deposit slip.
Make the most of your fundraising page
How to maximise your online fundraising potential.
Once you register as a Girls’ Night In host you will have a fundraising page that you can personalise to suit your theme and whatever it is you’re planning. Like everything about Girls’ Night In, it can be as simple or as creative as you want it to be.
You can use your fundraising page to:
-
Plan and organise your event.
-
Manage donations and thank sponsors for their support.
-
Promote your event and let everyone know why you’re involved, and what you’re hoping to achieve.
How can you do more with your page?
Check out these handy tips:
-
Personalise your page. Give your page a name, post a message from the heart and upload some photos that reflect you and your event. Just click on the 'Customise your Girls’ Night In page' button in the left hand menu and you'll be able to make all the changes you want.
-
Set a fundraising goal. Aim high: set a fundraising target for your event- make sure it’s slightly ambitious (but achievable)!
-
Make it personal.Share your story or that of a person you are trying to help. Your friends and family are more likely to donate if they can relate to the cause.
-
Donate to your event. Why not make a donation yourself? This will demonstrate you’re dedicated to the cause and set the standard for your guests’ donations.
-
Email your close friends and family first. Send an email or e-invite to the people you think are most likely to be quick to support you. Subsequent supporters are likely to match the amounts already donated.
-
Just ask. Email your guests using our ‘e-invites’ and encourage them to make a donation online before the event. People are more likely to make a larger donation online than they would in person.
-
Change your email signature and update your Facebook profile. Change your email signature and your Facebook profile to include a link to your fundraising page.
-
Follow up. Just before your event, send a reminder email to everyone you know and prompt them to donate.
-
Keep your page updated. Encourage people to check back in with your fundraising page. Let everyone know how your event preparations are going and get them excited.
-
Continue fundraising after your event. Update your fundraising total and email it out to your guests to let them know how much you have all raised together. A number of donations are likely to roll in when the event is over, so keep fundraising!
